Services of hotels and features of their functioning
For realization of process of service of tourists in hotel the minimal set of the following basic services providing granting of the basic hotel services should be stipulated:
- Service of management of number fund;
- Administrative service;
- Service of public catering;
- Commercial service;
- Technical services;
- Auxiliary and additional services.

The service of management is engaged in number fund the decision of the questions connected with room reservation, reception of the tourists arriving to hotel, their registration and accommodation under numbers, and also sending home or to following item of a route of travel after the termination of round, provides service of tourists in numbers, supports a necessary sanitary-and-hygienic condition of numbers and a level of comfort in premises, is engaged in rendering of household services to visitors.

The structure of service includes director or the manager on operation of numbers, service of reception and accommodation, service of the parlourmaiden, the incorporated service service (door-keepers, koridornye, the cloakroom attendants, serving a garage facilities), service of the porter, service kons'erzza, service of messengers, the inspector on cleaning numbers, security service.

The first impression which is received by the visitor from a hotel complex depends on service of reception and accommodation. The problem of the head of the given service to supervise all process of reception and accommodation of visitors, skilfully resolving conflicts from which the prestige of hotel can suffer.

The given service is engaged in the decision of the questions connected with reception of visitors, arriving in hotel, their registration and accommodation under numbers, rendering of various services, their sending home, and certainly room reservation. Before a management of hotel always there is a problem: to go on risk of double booking or to remain with not finished loading number fund. Therefore the role of service of booking cannot be underestimated.

The department of booking should watch constantly a conjuncture, collecting applications for booking and fixing any increase of demand which the hotel could use, increasing cost of accommodation and giving the enterprise the greater income. Numbers which have been not reserved in advance, are transferred for direct sale in service of accommodation which should place visitors in given numbers under higher price.

The service of the porter carries out the control over number fund of hotel, conducting a card file on employment of numbers and presence of empty seats, and carries out functions of information centre. The information through service of the porter moves in two directions: to visitors (if it is a question of informing on the kinds of service given by hotel, on local sights, on work of a municipal transportation, etc.) and in various divisions of the hotel enterprise (about needs of the client).

The service of the parlourmaiden in most cases is most functionally significant division if it is a question of reception of services of hotel accommodation as this division is responsible for cleaning numbers, halls, corridors, etc. internal premises in which reception and servicing is carried out.

The person heading service of parlourmaiden, bears the responsibility for work of the personnel on maintenance of cleanliness and the order in inhabited and office accommodations of hotel. The senior parlourmaid receives the task and distributes its performance among subordinates, simultaneously carrying out the administrative functions assigned to it on executive director.

The security service carries out functions of maintenance of the order and safety in a hotel complex as the hotel bears the responsibility for maintenance of reasonable safety of the clients. Thus the enterprise can charge performance of these duties as to own service, and to involve the foreign organization.

The administrative service is responsible for the organization of management by all services of a hotel complex, solves financial questions, questions of personnel maintenance, is engaged in creation and maintenance of necessary working conditions for the personnel of hotel, supervises observance of the established norms and rules on a labour safety, the safety precautions, fire-prevention and ecological safety.

The structure of service includes secretary, financial service, personnel service, the ecologist, inspectors on fire-prevention safety and the safety precautions.

The financial service solves questions of financial maintenance of the enterprise, receives reports from cashiers of each shop of the enterprise, including service of a feed, service of the porter, souvenir boothes and sports complexes if those are available. The financial service conducts the uniform financial account at the enterprise (that is incomes of shops, the account of charges and incomes, conducting operations under the account of the paid working hours, paid bonuses, and also the tip received by separate workers).

The personnel service solves questions of selection, arrangement and improvement of professional skill of the staff. Duties of this division include conducting private affairs of all employees of hotel.

The secretary prosecutes subjects documentary and a supply with information of activity of a hotel complex.

The service of public catering provides service of visitors of the enterprise at restaurants, cafe or bars of hotel, solves questions on the organization and service of banquets, presentations, etc.

The divisions of public catering including restaurant (), bars, cafe, service banketinga, and also easting establishment (kitchen), provide visitors with services of a feed.

The head of service of public catering makes the menu, provides delivery of necessary initial products, distributes the attendants on sites, supervises quality of finished goods and service, observing thus a reasonable economy effort.

Each department in service has the head, including the manager on service in numbers.

The restaurant as division of public catering serves visitors according to the menu which is a basis of any restaurant concept, the given enterprise of a feed is independent to what type concerns. The greater role thus is played with professionalism of headwaiters and the waiters who are being direct contact to clients.

Bufetnoe or bar service consists basically in maintenance of clients with spirits. In bars drinks for their use at restaurant can prepare also. Such bar carries the name service.

The kitchen is the industrial center. Orders for manufacture of concrete production act from restaurant from waiters (on the basis of the menu made and offered to clients), and also from the banquet hall working under the advanced order. Cooks prepare for necessary dishes, and the main duty of a management in this sector is only the control for by and quality of an end-product.

The commercial service prosecutes subjects of operative and strategic planning. Analyzes results of economic and financial activity.

The commercial service is headed by the sales manager who carries out the control over work of this division and over the organization of banquet service. As to commercial service of individual service here each worker has the right to supervise the certain geographical zones which are of interest the enterprise.

Representatives of a commercial department (department of marketing) are engaged in many respects in that contacts to organizers kongressnyh come into of actions, negotiate on perspective use of number fund of hotel, discuss questions of use of premises under assemblies, meetings, find out needs of the certain groups of clients, supporting contacts to corresponding divisions of service.

Engineering services create conditions for functioning central airs, heat supplies, the sanitary-engineering equipment, electrotechnical devices, services of repair and construction, systems of TV and communication.

The structure of service includes the chief engineer, service of operating repair, service of an accomplishment of territory, a communication service.

The service of operating repair carries out preventive and operating repair not only number fund and the equipment established in it, but also all hotel enterprise.

Auxiliary services provide process of work of a hotel complex, offering services of a laundry, tailor's, linen services, services of cleaning of premises, multiplying service, service of a warehouse, etc.

Additional services render paid services. Their structure includes a hairdressing salon, pool, a sauna, a sun deck, sports constructions and other divisions.

Each service has the features of functioning. In more detail, in our opinion, it is necessary to pay attention to those services which are directly connected with servicing in hotels.
